Anker Schiffahrt signs contract extension with UPM-Kymmene

Emden | January 2020:

Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH and the Finnish company UPM-Kymmene Oyj, a leading company in the bio and forest industry, have again extended the contract for handling forest products. Anker Schiffahrt, the operator of a modern multi-purpose seaport terminal in the outer port of Emden, won the contract against tough national and international competition.

Anker Schiffahrt will again primarily handle pulp for UPM-Kymmene at the Emskai for several years and deliver it to national and international customers and the UPM Nordland Papier GmbH mill in Dörpen as required. Anker Schiffahrt acts as shipbroker for all pulp imports, as well as stevedore on board and stevedore. In addition, the company partly arranges on-carriage by barge, rail and truck as well as container stuffing.

By signing the contract, the two companies are continuing their cooperation, which has existed since 1983. "We can look back on more than 35 years of very good and trustful partnership, the contract award in the tender underlines this", says Jörg Conrad, owner and CEO of the Leschaco Group and Managing Director of Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH. "We believe that a successful partnership is based on the principles of intensive cooperation, integrity, transparency, mutual respect and last but not least good work. We value the daily work with the different UPM departments and the personal contact with UPM. Our highly motivated Emder team is very much looking forward to continuing our cooperation in the coming days, months and years," adds Jan Remmers, Managing Director of Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH.
