The Emden-based seaport transshipments and terminal operator Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH, a 100% subsidiary of the global logistics service provider Leschaco, has been granted the status of an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO).
AEO is an internationally recognized certificate and confirms that Anker Schiffahrt is a reliable business partners for customs clearance in international trade. Customers benefit from simplified customs declaration procedures that allow them to complete customs formalities more quickly and efficiently. The AEO certification is another milestone for the Leschaco subsidiary in Emden, Germany and a further important step towards continuous efficiency and quality improvement in the operational business for the customers. The successful certification was guided by Mr. Klaas Ulferts, Authorized Representative at Anker Schiffahrt (picture) and Mrs. Henrike von Oehsen, Head of Corporate Customs at Leschaco.
AEO-certified companies have passed through an extensive audit process by the customs authorities and are therefore considered to be fully compliant with local regulations. Anker Schiffahrt will constantly improve its service quality in order to offer its customers reliable and high-quality services.

Information about AEO:
Supply chain security and trade simplification are becoming increasingly important around the world and are therefore central issues for customs. The AEO concept is based on the SAFE Framework of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and is the globally uniform standard which, in addition to the introduction of security standards, is intended to significantly facilitate trade. In many respects, the US program C-TPAT is cited as the inspiration for the SAFE framework. Another example is the "Authorized Economic Operator Program" of the European Union, whose AEO status has been granted since January 1, 2008. Open to all, economic operators voluntarily fulfil a variety of criteria that work closely with customs authorities to ensure the common goal of supply chain security and provide benefits to economic operators.
