following the recent announcement of a ceasefire and the direct talks held over the weekend in the Iran–US conflict, markets and the logistics industry had hoped for a positive turning point, including a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and improved planning reliability.
However, as of today, these expectations have not materialized. The latest developments over the weekend and into today, including the announced U.S. enforcement measures affecting maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports, have not resulted in any change for commercial transport operations.
The situation remains highly volatile, with ongoing geopolitical tensions, uncertainty around the status of the Strait of Hormuz, and continued reluctance from ocean carriers due to safety, insurance, and operational risks. As a result, routing, transit times, and service availability remain subject to short-notice changes, and a stable operating environment cannot yet be assumed.
Alternative solutions, including landbridge options, are being utilized but remain limited due to congestion and capacity constraints, and can only be considered on a case-by-case basis.
