AC Container line North America Detention and Demurrage Dispute Resolution Guidance
Disputes should be submitted when an invoice is believed to be calculated incorrectly.
If you have received an invoice for detention and/or demurrage for charges assessed in the U.S. and you believe the charges are incorrect, please contact your Customer Service team directly or contact:

For questions related to free time, an explanation of charges, or other matters relating to detention and/or demurrage, please contact our Customer Service team or your designated customer service contact.
When submitting a dispute, please ensure the following is included:
- Bill of Lading number
- Invoice number
- Container / Tank Container Number
- A detailed written description of the charges being disputed, the reason for the dispute, and requested resolution.
- Disputes due to containers associated with Government holds: A statement validating the customs hold was not a result of any action by the shipper, their agent, or any party to the bill of lading.
- For disputes involving a change of paying party, written confirmation from the party who will pay is needed.
Notice Regarding Pass-Through Charges (Demurrage & Detention):
For all pass-through charges, including demurrage and detention fees, the terms and conditions of the respective shipping lines apply exclusively. These charges are subject to the contractual agreements and general terms and conditions of the respective carriers.We recommend reviewing the specific terms and fee policies of the relevant shipping line, as these fall under the carrier's responsibility and are beyond our control.
Each dispute will be reviewed and judged upon it's merits based on the facts of that particular case and consistent with the applicable law and regulations.
Disputes must be submitted to AC Container Line or it’s nominated agent’s within 30 days of the invoice date.
Definition Pre-Demurrage for Leschaco Tank Container
Tank rent from depot release date to Actual Time of Departure (ATD), the shipper shall be allowed to load and return to the terminal or depot within mentioned calendar days free time. After expiration of the free time, AC Container Line or it'snominated agents will assess mentioned Pre-demurrage rate per day and tank until vessel sailing (BL Date).
Definition Demurrage for Leschaco Tank Container
Tank rent commencing on the first calendar day following arrival at the final discharge at the destination terminal the mentioned days are free of any demurrage. Thereafter, mentioned demurrage rate per day and tank is applicable. Demurrage ends upon return of empty tank container to the designated depot under notification to AC Container Line or it's nominated agents.
