Successful Participation in Jakarta's Car Free Day and Waste Collection Activity

Leschaco CSR

World Car Free Day, observed annually on September 22nd in various countries worldwide, encourages individuals to reduce personal car usage and opt for public transportation and bicycles instead. This initiative aims to decrease the number of private vehicles on roads, thereby reducing air pollution and improving air quality. It also aims to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce accidents, while saving travel time and conserving energy resources, including petroleum.

In Jakarta, Indonesia, Car Free Day is held every Sunday in the nation's capital city. On July 21st, thirty-two employees from Leschaco Indonesia enthusiastically participated in this initiative to raise awareness and reduce pollution in the city. Additionally, our team organized a waste collection activity along Sudirman Street.  Before the event, we warmed up and formed groups to compete in collecting the most trash.

After the activity, there was a group performance to strengthen relationships among colleagues, and awards were given to the team that collected the most trash. The entire waste collection effort took us one and a half hours, covering a distance of over 4.5 km. In total, we gathered 13 bags of trash, weighing approximately 30 kilograms. Most of the waste collected consisted of plastic water bottles found along the streets, which were delivered to a waste bank for recycling.

This initiative garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback from our employees. Not only did it effectively utilize our free time, but it also underscored the company's dedication to social responsibility.

BIG THANKS to all volunteers who contributed to making a lasting impact!
