#WeCare: Our Planet through Lid Twist, Straw Turn – Waste Reduction
As part of the continued commitment to environmental responsibility and waste reduction, Leschaco Thailand successfully rolled out the “LID Twist, STRAW Turn – Waste Reduction” initiative across five designated branch locations.
This initiative was conducted over 6 months duration, spanning from June through November 2025. This project saw significant workforce engagement - 166 personnel dedicated to the sorting and processing phases and additionally 31 participants contributed through direct donations and specialized sustainability workshops. This brings total engagement to 197 participants in sorting, processing, direct donations and workshops.
The initiative was designed to address three core sustainability priorities:
- Plastic Waste Reduction: Implementing practical measures to minimize the generation of single-use plastics and other non-biodegradable waste across organizational operations.
- Resource Sustainability: Promoting a circular economy mindset by strengthening recycling and recovery practices to extend the lifecycle of materials.
- Employee Engagement and Awareness: Cultivating environmental stewardship among employees through targeted awareness programs that encourage responsible consumption and waste segregation behaviors
Together, these objectives reinforced the organization’s long-term ambition to reduce its environmental footprint and advance its carbon neutrality goals with measurable impact of 31,820 plastic lids and 2,959 plastic straws recovered and process
The LID Twist, STRAW Turn initiative stands as a strong example of how strategic planning, employee engagement, and alignment with global sustainability goals can translate into meaningful environmental outcomes. By reducing plastic waste, fostering resource circularity, and strengthening environmental awareness, the initiative has become a foundational pillar in advancing the Road2Zero project and reinforcing the organization’s commitment to responsible consumption and production.
