Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, the Houston office of global logistics provider Leschaco USA partnered with the esteemed conservation organization Houston Wilderness to host a significant bioswale planting event on Earth Day, April 22nd.
This hands-on initiative, held at Leschaco’s Houston facility, directly addressed CO2 reduction efforts while fostering a deeper connection with the local ecosystem and valued customers.
The Earth Day 2025 project saw enthusiastic participation from Leschaco USA employees and community members who volunteered their time to establish a thriving bioswale.
This carefully planned green infrastructure project is designed to naturally filter stormwater runoff, reduce pollution, and enhance local biodiversity. The selection of plant species was a key element of the initiative, with a focus on native grasses and forbs known for their ecological benefits.
The collective effort of the volunteers resulted in the planting of 1,825 individual plants across the designated bioswale drainage area of 367m²/76.6 acres.
This thoughtfully curated selection promises a range of ecological benefits, including improved water quality, enhanced habitat for local fauna, and increased carbon sequestration.
This bioswale planting event was a fantastic way for the Leschaco USA team in Houston to actively contribute to environmental sustainability while strengthening our ties with the local community and our customers.
We are incredibly grateful to Houston Wilderness for their expertise and guidance, and to all the dedicated volunteers who made this vision a reality.
Houston Wilderness also expressed their appreciation for the partnership.
The commitment shown by Leschaco USA sets a commendable example for other businesses in the region.
This initiative underscores Leschaco USA’s ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and its dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and the communities in which it operates.
The newly established bioswale will serve as a living testament to this commitment, providing long-term ecological benefits for the Houston area.
Thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible, especially to Hien Le who organized this great event.
