In bright spring weather on April 4th, a waste collection campaign took place in Emden harbor took place. The companies Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG (NPorts), ANKER Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH and Germania Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH have together set a strong example for environmental awareness and team spirit. In just two hours, the 75 dedicated helpers collected around one ton of waste from various areas of the port.

With grabbing tongs, garbage bags and a lot of energy, the following locations were cleaned up: Außenhafen, Eichstraße, Ölhafen, Straße Zum Nordkai, Straße zum Jarssumer Hafen, Südkai and Middelmantje.

“Our port is now much cleaner, and we have shown what we can achieve together,” 

explains Aiko Hollander, Branch Manager of NPorts in Emden. The effort was

rewarded with a convivial finale of barbecued sausages and non-alcoholic drinks.

With a wink, he adds: “International Cleanup Day isn't until September 20.

September - but we Emden residents have always been a bit quicker.”
