Chemical logistics re-thought: Our new Warehouse in Bremen

Sebastian Haebler / Head of Global Contract Logistics /

Chemical products place special demands on logistics processes: high safety standards, regulatory complexity and at the same time the pressure to design supply chains to be flexible, transparent and sustainable. This is exactly where our new chemical warehouse in Bremen comes in.

With the new location, we are creating an infrastructure that not only safeguards chemical logistics, but actively simplifies it.

One Location, many Functions – deliberately conceived as interconnected

The new chemical warehouse in Bremen was designed from the outset as a multi‑purpose warehouse. It is a central building block for our LCL services and Global Contract Logistics within the Leschaco Group.
Specifically, this means:

  • Bundling of global LCL product management at the Bremen location
  • Establishment of a strategic chemical warehouse hub for international customers
  • Close integration of transport, handling, warehousing and value‑added services

This results in shorter distances, clearer processes and better controllability across the entire supply chain for our customers.

Infrastructure that understands Chemicals

The warehouse is consistently designed for sensitive and dangerous goods:

  • Approx. 20,000 m2 of warehouse space
  •  Approx. 12,500 pallet rack storage positions
  • 27 loading and unloading doors for flexible goods flows
  • Integrated packing station and contract logistics hub
  • CO2 fire‑extinguishing system, gas detection and modern safety systems

Certified areas for numerous hazardous material classes as well as separate hazardous goods warehouses outside the main building ensure maximum safety – even for complex requirements such as WGK 3 substances or lithium‑ion batteries.

Bremen as a Strategic Hub

The location between Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven makes Bremen an ideal hub for international chemical flows. The site is complemented by our European network, including Moerdijk in the Netherlands – strategically positioned between Rotterdam and Antwerp.

The result:

More flexibility, better connections and scalable solutions for European and global supply chains.

Built sustainably, operated efficiently

The chemical warehouse is certified to DGNB Gold standard. Energy‑efficient construction, renewable energies and optimized processes for emission reduction are not add‑ons, but an integral part of the concept.

We understand sustainability not as a marketing promise, but as a measurable advantage for our customers – today and in the long term.

Digital Processes for Maximum Transparency

Modern chemical logistics requires digital control:

  • Warehouse management with connection to our Dangerous Goods Information System
  • Automatic process status notifications
  • SOLAS VGM weighing

This ensures transparency, safety and smooth processes – even in complex import, export or cross‑docking scenarios.

With the new chemical warehouse in Bremen, we are creating an infrastructure that combines safety, sustainability and operational efficiency. For our customers, this means more control, more flexibility and chemical logistics that grow with their requirements.
