Closing the Loop: Transforming Recycling into Nutrition with RedBAMX

Leschaco CSR

A circular economy initiative uniting Climate Action with Zero Hunger, led by our volunteer communities.

Today, at Leschaco Mexicana, we witnessed the power of collaboration and sustainable vision. We completed a very special mission by visiting the RedBAMX Food Bank at the Central de Abastos in Mexico City to deliver a donation with a unique origin story.

From Plastianguis to the Table: A Circular Economy Model Do you remember our participation in Plastianguis? Thanks to our collective effort in collecting plastic waste, we obtained basic pantry staples that have now found their final destination in the hands of those who need them most.

  • The delivered items included:

  • Rice and beans

  • Sugar and cooking oil

  • Bleach and cleaning supplies

This action is a tangible example of the Circular Economy within our CSR strategy. We not only prevented plastic from ending up in landfills, but we also transformed that waste into a valuable resource for the community.

Connecting Global Goals What makes this delivery special is how we managed to intertwine two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that might seem distinct:

  • SDG 13 (Climate Action): Through recycling and proper waste management.

  • SDG 2 (Zero Hunger): By transforming that environmental effort into food security.

Volunteer Leadership: The Heart of Our Communities

This delivery was made possible thanks to the enthusiasm of our colleagues who represented Leschaco at the food bank today: Erika Cervantes and Nancy Cervantes, along with the CSR team.

Erika and Nancy are currently the Champions of two of our most active communities: Climate Action and the Cooking Club. It is inspiring to see how these communities—which are 100% voluntary—do not just stay in theory but go out into the field to generate real impact.

Thank you to everyone who participated by recycling! This donation is the direct result of your commitment. We invite all colleagues to join these communities; your small daily actions are what allow us to achieve great changes like today’s.
