Hello!
Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility, employees and their families from Leschaco’s Veracruz office successfully carried out their annual "Playa Libre" (Free Beach) cleanup event, Saturday, October 25, 2025.
This large-scale volunteer effort was conducted in collaboration with the renowned local environmental NGO, KAYAM A.C., at the beaches of the Best Western Hotel in the Riviera Veracruzana.
The brigade of volunteers gathered bright and early at 8:00 AM, embracing the spirit of the event which is captured by KAYAM's powerful motto:
"Cuando cuidamos el mar, también cuidamos nuestra casa" (When we take care of the sea, we also take care of our home).
Participants spent the morning meticulously collecting plastic waste, bottles, fishing line, and other debris that pose a significant threat to the Gulf of Mexico’s delicate marine ecosystems, including local coral reefs and sea turtle habitats. The cleanup reinforces the urgency of local action in the global fight against marine pollution, especially in coastal states like Veracruz.
A Testament to Corporate and Community Commitment
The success of the event is a reflection of Leschaco’s #WeCare corporate social responsibility philosophy, which emphasizes a positive impact on "Our Family," "Our Friends," and "Our Planet."
The entire initiative was skillfully organized by Natalia Virgen from the Leschaco Veracruz team, whose dedication on the ground was key to mobilizing the volunteers. She was supported by the crucial remote coordination of Nancy Cervantes from the Leschaco office in Mexico City.
Their collaborative planning ensured all logistics ran smoothly, allowing the volunteers to focus entirely on the cleanup effort.
KAYAM A.C., a non-profit association focused on the protection and conservation of local ecosystems, specifically employs the “Playa Libre” program as one of its core initiatives to prevent ocean-bound plastic pollution and promote collective environmental responsibility.
By participating, Leschaco not only helped clean a vital stretch of the Veracruz coastline but also contributed to raising awareness about the critical need for sustainable waste management practices within the community.
The company extends its sincere gratitude to all employees and family members for their participation and their willingness to spend their Saturday morning making a tangible difference for the environment.
KAYAM is a civil association in Veracruz, Mexico, dedicated to the protection of local ecosystems, especially marine biodiversity, through conservation actions, community cleanup brigades, and environmental education programs.
