At Leschaco, we are dedicated to Our Planet, actively contributing and SDG 13 (Climate Actions) through the implementation of sustainable practices, reduction of our carbon footprint, and promotion of environmental stewardship.

On July 7th 2023, 28 employees from Leschaco Thailand and Leschaco Services, participated in a meaningful tree planting event at the Khlong Khon Mangrove Forest Conservation Center in Samut Songkhram province. Together, we successfully planted 140 trees in the designated area, contributing to the restoration and conservation of the mangrove forest.

During the event, our employees gained valuable knowledge about the importance of mangrove forests and learned proper tree planting techniques. We were fortunate to have experts on hand who shared their expertise and insights, enhancing our understanding of the significance of this conservation effort.

The Khlong Khon Mangrove Forest Conservation Center suffered significant devastation in the past due to intensive shrimp farming practices, resulting in the depletion of aquatic resources and adversely affecting the livelihoods of local fishermen. The local community, relying on fishing as their ancestral occupation, was unable to support their families, leading to forced migration and seeking employment elsewhere. However, through mangrove restoration and compensation programs, the mangrove forest in Khlong Khon has shown remarkable signs of recovery. The restoration has revitalized the area, bringing back a diverse range of marine life, and reinstating the traditional fishing practices, once again benefiting the local community.

Mangrove forests, encompassing species such as Red Mangrove, Samae Talay and White Tabun, offer numerous environmental advantages. Apart from enhancing the ecological balance and restoring coastal ecosystems, mangrove forest has gained recognition as an excellent carbon storage area, primarily due to the accumulation of carbon in the leaf tissues, a process known as "carbon stocking."

Additionally, our efforts in mangrove reforestation significantly contribute to oxygen generation and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, ultimately making a positive impact on our planet.

Together, we believe in making a positive impact and we are committed to building a better future for our employees, communities, and our planet by creating positive change in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
