"Separate, Exchange and Smile" Initiative in Thailand

Leschaco CSR

The Yak Lak Yim (Separate, Exchange and Smile) project is an initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness, aligning with one of the company's objectives in line with UN Goal 13 - Climate Action. Initiated by the Environment Health Safety and Quality (EHSQ) management department at Leschaco Thailand, this project seeks to actively involve employees from all branches in the collection of recyclable plastic.

Implemented since the beginning of 2023, the project encourages employees to separate PET1 plastic water bottles, which are then gathered during three intervals throughout the year. Through the initiative, there are collected PET1 plastic bottles, plastic wraps or labels, and screw caps which are subsequently donated for recycling into various products, including:

  • PET plastic bottles: monk robes, PPE suits, shirts, cloth bags, shoes
  • Label or plastic wraps: lamp oil
  • Screw caps: tables, chairs, toys, plastic baskets, brooms, artificial wood

This activity has generated significant engagement among our colleagues and the cumulative effort across the three phases involved 114 volunteers contributing a total of 842 volunteering hours, resulting in the collection of 162.45 kilograms of plastic bottles.
